As the market leader in hygiene and pest control industry, Rentokil Initial Malaysia is dedicated in educating the society about the importance of having good hygiene habits and at the same time providing them information on dengue awareness.
In November 2013, Rentokil Initial Malaysia organised this programmes in three different schools:
1) SK Sri KDU, Selangor
2) SJKC Gunung Rapat, Ipoh
3) Tabika Selayang Pandang, Selangor
These educational sessions took place with Dengue Awareness Talk focusing on the danger of aedes mosquitoes and dengue prevention measures. In order to increase hygiene awareness among young children, good washroom habits and proper hand washing techniques were demonstrated to the students during the Personal Hygiene Awareness Talk (PHAT) by hygiene experts from Initial Hygiene Malaysia.
Students had a lot of fun participating in the interactive activities such as the sing-along hand washing song and quizzes. Goodie bags and educational packs were also distributed to all students and teachers who attended the programmes. Towards the end of the events, educational posters were given to the schools as a reminder for the students and teachers to practise good hygiene habits in their daily routine.
In order to further increase the level of hygiene in the schools, canteen operators are given proactive recommendations on pest preventions and sanitation by field biologist from Rentokil Pest Control.
Since January 2013, Rentokil Initial Malaysia had successfully initiated 23 Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) events in schools and charity homes around Malaysia benefitting a total number of 6,221 students and teachers.
